In conjunction with the Hanover County Department of Animal Control, the East Hanover VRS Auxiliary will be holding its Annual Rabies Clinic at the rescue squad location, 8105 Walnut Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111 on Saturday, MARCH 13, 2010. The clinic will start at 1:00 PM and will last until 4:00 PM.

The veterinarian will administer the vaccine for $7.00 per dog or cat. Dog licenses will be available as well. All dogs and cats four (4) months of age or older must be vaccinated and have tags and a valid license proving the vaccination. The veterinarian will administer the shots AT YOUR VEHICLE without you having to bring your pet inside. The vaccination is good for up to three (3) years.

Remember to:

  • Keep all animals in your vehicle. Do not bring them inside the building.
  • After the vaccine has been given, please come into the building.
  • Complete the registration inside the squad's building.
  • Only healthy, non-pregnant animals will be vaccinated.
  • No wolf hybrids or other animals will be vaccinated.
  • Please leave the designated area as soon as possible once done.
  • Put the rabies tags on the dog's collar and keep all certificates.

Animals who have been infected by rabies pose a threat to Hanover County residents and their pets. Please support your squad's Auxiliary, and bring your dogs and cats to this clinic on Saturday, March 13, 2010. We thank you for supporting your Volunteer Rescue Squad.

For more information, call Hanover County Animal Control at (804) 365-6485 or you can visit them at www.co.hanover.va.us/anmlctrl/rabiesct.htm.

Please leave your animals in your vehicles. The vet, assisted by the East Hanover Auxiliary, will administer the vaccine outside in our parking lot located behind our building.

Once the vaccine has been delivered, please come into the squad's large training room to complete all of your necessary paperwork. We thank you for all of your help and sincerely appreciate your donations.

THANK YOU FOR VISITING US.

Thank you for visiting our Internet site. As a 24/7 rescue squad located in historic Hanover County, Virginia, East Hanover provides the best in patient care in an emergency "911" setting. We want to give you the opportunity to stay in touch with our rescue squad, let you know about our operations, our community classes and involvement, and how to volunteer your time and efforts at East Hanover VRS!

East Hanover VRS was founded on July 4, 1969. The rescue squad rotates several day duty crews and six nightly duty crews for "every day of the year" coverage. Our riding, junior, auxiliary, and life members are currently approching 150 members, but with the fantastic growth now being experienced by the East Hanover Community and Hanover County overall, more volunteers are needed. Our bond with the Hanover Fire/EMS Department is strong as the county runs a combination system of volunteers and paid staff. The County's information can be found on the LINKS page of this website.

It is East Hanover's intent to connect to our community by providing you information about us, who our volunteers are, where you can find us, and where you can get necessary training classes for either yourself or your company. EHVRS urges our community to check this site frequently and click on the links provided.
