EHVRS VOLUNTEERS SPEAK AT AARP MONTHLY MEETING

              Picture
Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Shalom Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, VA, volunteers Tina Currie and John Von Hagel of East Hanover VRS, spoke before the local Mechanicsville Chapter of the AARP - Chapter 5407. Tina and John brought before the crowd, information about how the AARP members record medications, allergies, and medical problems on forms that can help EMT personnel and hospitals. The East Hanover volunteers spoke about home safety to avoid fires, and the definition, examples, and signs and symptoms of stroke. They were able to provide pamphlets and brochures for all members on the above topics. The officers of AARP Mechanicsville Chapter 5407 were installed into their offices during the meeting, by Mr. Patrick Johnson, Associate State Director, Multicultural Outreach. The group provided them with a delicious lunch before they left with a huge thank you.

We appreciate all of the great questions, and wish to sincerely thank President Barbara McNeice from AARP Mechanicsville Chapter 5407 for a wonderful morning.

Enjoy the following pictures! We look forward to next year.

East Hanover shows off during Annual Mechanicsville Parade

              Picture
Before East Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad could go out in public and "show itself off," Boy Scout Troop #535, donated its time and effort on Sunday, December 5, 2010, to make our units as squeaky clean as possible. They cleaned and polished inside, outside, and all around. As a matter of fact, this Troop donates their help several a year to the squad, keeping our ambulances clean for our community and citizens of Hanover County.

East Hanover VRS gratefully thanks Troop #535! We stand behind them in all of their endeavors! Standing in front of one of the ambulances they just cleaned, is from left to right, Jackson Murray, Michael Norman, Gray Shannon, Peter Garrett, Franz Stillfried, Sam Norman, Joey Keiper, and Bobby Garner. Not shown is Shawn Holt who had to leave before this photo was shot.

After the units were all "glistening and sparkling," our proud volunteers took to the streets of the Annual Mechanicsville Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 5, 2010. East Hanover displayed its QRV, an ambulance called 14-2, and a unit named "Crash Truck." This annual event is special to the squad, as we personally get a chance to say THANK YOU to our fine East Hanover citizens who donate their dollars to support our mission.

From left to right, we find Phil Childress, Junior Adviser, Dustin Hazelgrove, Junior First Lt., Ven Barnes, Matthew Combee, Junior Treasurer and PR Director, Nathan Elswick, and new applicant, Matt O'Donnell. Not shown is Megan Wilson who met the gang at the parade. Thanks you one and all, for your participation and dedication to our mission as well.

Please click on the photos from the parade below, and enjoy!
